Abstract

Repong damar is a traditional agroforestry system that develops in the lives of the West Coast community and contains the value of local wisdom that plays an important role in maintaining environmental sustainability. In the context of social change and economic pressure, the existence of resin repong is the main source of livelihood that supports the economic resilience of households and regions. However, a comprehensive understanding of the role of resin repong as a local wisdom in increasing community income still requires a synthesis study of various previous research results. Therefore, this study aims to thoroughly examine the role of resin repong as a local wisdom in increasing the income of the West Coast community through a literature review approach. The research method used is literature review by analyzing six relevant scientific journals using content analysis techniques and narrative synthesis. The results of the study show that resin repong has been proven to make a significant contribution to increasing community income, strengthening social welfare, and maintaining the sustainability of resources through the application of traditional and cultural values. In addition, technical factors of harvesting and production quality also determine the income level of resin farmers, while the main challenge lies in weak farmer institutions and limited market access. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that strengthening the management of resins based on local wisdom, supported by increasing technical capacity and strengthening economic institutions, is a key strategy in increasing the income and welfare of the West Coast community in a sustainable manner.
